The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) came into existence as per the act and regulations of Bihar Act 7 of 1952. The board conducts examination for students at secondary school level. The Bihar Board will also provide syllabus to the schools in the state and sees that the schools follow the norms according to them.
The Bihar Board is established so as to conduct the exams at the end of Secondary School stage, for prescribing course of studies for such examination and for performing other such duties which are necessary as per stated in the Act, Rules and Regulations of the board.
The Bihar Board conducts Annual exams in the month of February/March and Supplementary School Examination in the month of August/September on the basis of course or syllabus provided by the Bihar State Government. Apart from the above exams the BSEB also conducts departmental exams on terms and conditions as laid by the State Government. The results are declared in the month of May or June.
