June 12, 1964, witnessed the start of Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) in Hyderabad. Inaugurated by Late Shri Lal BahadurShastri, the then Honorable Prime Minister of India in 1965, APAU caters to students who are interested to venture in the fields of Agriculture, Veterinary/ Animal Husbandry and Home Science and Teaching, Research and Extension. It was renamed as Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) in 1966 after the eminent personality Acharya N. G. Ranga.

Right from B.Sc. and B.Tech courses in Agriculture, Home Sciences, Commercial Agriculture and Business Management, ANGRAU goes further till Ph.D. courses. This University acts as an umbrella to 13 colleges and 12 Polytechnic institutes. The university also invites foreign students interested in exploring their avenues on Indian soil. The first of its kind to start Rural Agricultural Work Experience Program (RAWEP) helping the final year students to be trained with farmers and stay in villages for a period of 6 months, giving them hands on experience on rural living conditions. With an amazing faculty of 105 which is a mix of Professors, Associate Professors and Asst. Professors, one can vouch for the credibility of the teaching staff. Close to 90% of them hold doctorate degrees. The university which has tie up with ICRISAT, CRIDA, DOR, DRR, NRCS and CDFD which helps students attend training programs adding value to their knowledge.

ANGRAU has conduct many exams on a regular basis for their UG/PG courses like Diploma, B.Sc.(Hort.), B.Tech. (Agril. Engg.) B.Sc.(Ag.), B.F.Sc, B.Sc.(H.Sc.), B.Tech. (Agri.Engg), B.Tech. (Biotechnology) , M.Sc. (Ag.), M.V.Sc., M.Tech (Agri Engg), M.Sc., M.Sc.(H.Sc.), M.Sc.(Agril. Biotech), MBA (Agri-Business), M.Tech (Ag.Engg) and M.SC Degree in various subjects Semester/Yearly.
