2008 witnessed the establishment of one of its kind’s university, the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University. The only University in the world to be proudly associated with imparting knowledge in the field of Forensic & Investigative Science received State University status in the year 2011. Dr. J. M. Vyas is the current Director.

The main motto of the University is to educate through Investigation. GFSU Gandhinagar has specialized courses in Forensic Sciences, Behavioral Sciences and Research & Development.
