The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is an “open school” which fulfills the needs of the learners up to pre degree level. It was started as a project with in-built flexibilities by the Central Board of Secondary Education in 1979. The National Policy on Education felt the need for independent system with its own curriculum and examination hence leading to the set up of National Open Schools in 1989. The NIOS is similar to CBSE and CISCE.
Evaluation and assessing are the main tools of any teaching system. NIOS is one of the National Boards of Examination which has been conducting two full fledged examinations every year during April/May and October/November since 1991. However we also conduct On Demand Examination at Secondary and Senior Secondary Level in those subjects only in which you have an admission in NIOS. To appear for the NIOS examination, you must register yourself by filling up the Examination form and paying requisite examination fee.
The NIOS 10th results will be declared by the month of August and can be easily viewed online.
