This University was established by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Act 1972. It was split into 4 Universities by the Jawaharlal University technological University Act 2008, like Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada.
