Rajeev Suri as CEO of Nokia:

Nokia, iconic mobile phone Business Company has appointed Rajeev Suri as its next Chief Executing Officer (CEO). He took over the office on May 1st 2016. Previously he has worked as Chief Executive Officer of Nokia Solutions and Networks. He was born in the year 1967 and did his Graduation as electronics and telecommunications engineer from Mangalore University. He started his career in NSN India as system marketing manager in 1995.

Ramesh Loganathan as the President of ITs AP:

Ramesh Loganathan, is elected as the President of ITs AP (IT and ITES Association of Andhra Pradesh) who is Managing Director and Vice-President (Products) of Progress Software India. He has been on April 29th and his tenure will be for two years 2016-2016. He was the main personality who has developed Offshore Development centre to Progress Software centre at Hyderabad.

Justice Shah has been appointed as head SIT on Black Money:

The Supreme Court has appointed Justice (retd) MB Shah as the chairman of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on black money.  This was to investigate about of black money in foreign banks and to recommend ways to bring it back the black money to India. Justice (retd) Arijit Pasayat is appointed as its vice chairman.

India’s first voter -Shyam Saran Negi:

Shyam Saran Negi is the first voter of the country. He casted his vote when elections were held for the first time in the country on October 25, 1951 in Kinnaur. Till now he has casted his vote in 16 General Elections and this 97 year old Shyam Saran Negi was appointed as brand ambassador for the poll campaign in the tribal region by the State Election Commission. He casts his vote at Kalpa Himachal Pradesh.

Justice Ashutosh Mohunta as executive chairman of the AP State Legal Services Authority:

Justice Ashutosh Mohunta is appointed as executive chairman of the AP State Legal Services Authority. The law department has notified that Governor ESL Narasimhan has nominated Mohunta for this position.

Jawahar Kaliani took over a key post in America:

An Indian-American Jawahar Kaliani has been appointed to a key post in the US Department of Treasury. He was appointed as as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Application Services Delivery (ASD) at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Department of Treasury United States.

First working day of May as Swathi Day:

In remembrance of Swathi who was died in Bangalore-Guwahati Express bomb blast at Central Station in Chennai, Southern Railway has decided to observe every first working day May as "Swathi Day". Swathi belongs to Guntur

Terrorists Attacks in Assam:

Militants belonging to the National democratic front of Bodoland saang bigith have resorted to terror attacks in Assam on May1st and 2nd.32 people have died in these attacks. These attacks occurred in bodo territorial district of Kokrajhar and bhakta. Armed militants opened fire on people belonging to minority group. Assam government has decided to have an enquiry conducted by the NIA.

IIT-Guwahati in top 100:

Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati has made it to the world's top 100 university rankings. This brought India for the first time on the top list. IIT-Guwahati has shared the 87th rank on the list with Portugal's New University of Lisbon and Australia's University of Western Sydney.

For your surprise, in the 2016 league table of '100 Under 50' institutions released by the 'Times Higher Education' (THE) magazine IIT-Guwahati is the only Indian educational institute in the  list. South Korea's Pohang University of Science and Technology stood top in  the list for the third consecutive year.

India as the world's third biggest Economy:

According to the report and ranking from International Comparison Program (ICP), India ranked after the US and China. India has displaced Japan and became the world's third biggest economy in terms of purchasing power parity (PPP). India took 3rd place over 10th place of last survey in 2005.

India Faces Ecological Imbalance:

Stanford university researchers have said that India is facing serious problem of ecological imbalance owing to frequent spells of drought and floods. The study highlighted that in the recent decades the monsoons in the south Asian region especially India have undergone significant changes. There is reported to be an increase in frequency of Dry Spells (no rains ) and Wet spells (raining for a couple of days)

Ratan Tata honored with the Highest Civilian Award:

India's biggest industrialist Ratan Tata has been honoured with United Kingdom's highest civilian award. After independence Ratan Tata is the first Indian to receive to receive this award. NIGHT GRAND CROSS OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE (GBE) has been presented to Ratan Tata on May 5, 2016 by Queen Elizabeth-II through the British High Commissioner Sir James Bewas in India.

Woman from Bihar gets Nightingale Award:

Martha Dodre, an officer in the Bihar state's health department has been conferred the Florence Nightingale award for the year 2016 by the Indian Government. 40 year old Martha hails from the tribal society of Jharkhand. She has been working in a Primary Health centre of Bihar and has contributed significantly for the elimination of polio. As reward of her excellent services, the Government awarded her with the Nightingale award. The award carries with it a cash value of Rs.50,000 and a certificate. Martha has also received the United nation's Global Leadership award in November 2013

Indian Scientist in Britain gets Fellowship:

Ravinder Dahia who has been carrying out his research at the Glasgow University of Britain has been awarded with Engineering Fellowships for Growth worth Rs.10.83 crores. Mr.Ravinder has been working on projects in the fields of advanced material, Robotic and Autonomous systems and Synthetic biology

Ahmad Miteeg elected as Libya's new Prime Minister:

The Libyan parliament on May 4, 2016 has elected Ahamad miteeg has its new Prime minister. At 42 yrs of age Ahamad Miteeg becomes the youngest prime minister of Libya. Ahamad Miteeg is the fifth prime minister after the collapse of Gadaffi's Government in 2011

Putin's officers put on restrictions by America:

Seven officers and 17 organisations being affiliated to Russian President Vladimir putin have been imposed restrictions by USA. The restrictions have also been extended to exports related to advanced military technology. This has been a direct consequence of the dissatisfaction of USA over Russia's interference over the violence in East Ukraine. The European Union (EU) has also agreed to impose restrictions on Russia and Ukraine. Restrictions of Visa grant, Immobilisation of assets are a few of such restrictions

EU prohibits import of Mango and Vegetables:

The European Union countries have put a temporary ban on the import of Alphonso variety of Mangoes from India on April 28th. The ban also includes Brinjal, Cucumber, Bitter gourd and other vegetables. The reason, European committee cited, being that the Indian imports of the above items in 2013 were containing harmful pests and insects. The decision has been backed up by the United Kingdom. Every year UK imports 16 million mangoes worth over 6 million Pounds.
